Today is the start of the RSPB's Birdwatch weekend!

This is a chance to monitor how our native British birds are getting on. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds is hoping that it will be a bigger and more conclusive survey that ever before!

The Birdwatch can be done from your window, balcony, or garden.

This is what you need to do to help the RSPB with its survey:

The link below will let you identify birds from the 406 species found in the UK:

Set yourself up for an hour’s non-stop bird spotting!

You can choose anytime this weekend to do this (between today, Friday 29th January, and Sunday 31st January).

Top Tips:

  • Remember that you can only count birds which have landed on the ground, fence, or tree.
  • Make sure you are not counting birds twice!
  • You might need to take a discreet picture of a bird so that you can look it up later.
