Young Sports LeadersPosted on: 04/11/2022
Today some of our Year 6 pupils took part in the YMCA's Young Sports Leaders training programme...
The children considered the qualities that make a good sports leader and an effective communicator.
Throughout the day, they took part in lots of exercises and challenges to develop their leadership skills. In the afternoon, they put their new skills into practice by leading groups of younger children in sports activities.
Here are some reflections from our Year 6 sports leaders at the end of their training day:
"Good sports leaders show kindness."
"Leaders understand equality."
"We need to respect each other."
"We need to speak with nice tones and project our voice."
"When we communicate, we need to thinking about our positioning and have clear expectations."
"I learnt how to take care of others and how to explain things clearly."
"I've learnt how to be a good communicator and how important safety is in sport."
"You need perseverance and also to help others."
"Teamwork! T.E.A.M. means Together Everyone Acheives More!"
