The World Reimagined

Posted on: 09/12/2022

During the Autumn Term, Year 3 have been working on their Globe Project - The World Reimagined. The project is used to empower children within schools to discuss a future where everyone is equal.

They learnt about West African Adinkra symbols and used these as inspiration to create their own symbols, thinking about what was important to them at school.

Next, Year 3 learnt about an artist called Sokari Douglas Camp, they looked at her artwork and learnt about her background - including how she uses art to make political statements. Year 3 used her artwork to inspire their thoughts about what they want the future to look like, for people from all cultures. After reflecting on what they wanted for the future, just like Sokari, Year 3 designed words to go around their globe. They chose to have St Clement Danes inspired strips to represent the school and a water background to reflect on the life of Saint Clement.

Year 3 are excited to share the artwork with their peers and to have it on display in school!
